We are very excited to say that we are ready to share the final product of our biggest project to date. Back in February we were tasked with turning the basement of a commercial building on Main Street East in Welland into two rental units.
This presented many unique challenges , mostly having to do with the fact that it is below a commercial space. First we had to decide how to make best use of the space and this involved working around the utilities for the upper unit so as not to disrupt the commercial space above. For each unit we came up with a one bedroom ...
Welcome back to another project diary from Black Jack. This project was about as ideal a start we could hope for. The house is located right off a main road in Welland. It had lots of street parking for our work vehicles and as you'll see in the video and the before and after pictures, It was a near empty, nigh untouched basement and to sweeten the deal even more it already has it own separate entrance. So basically the place was an investors dream.
The super clean start to things was a vast leg up for the renovation. Since there was no initial heavy cleanup ...
What we do is basically a game of renovation whack-a-mole, as soon as we knock one out , one or two or even three more pop up. That is to say, things are going good. But we're are also always happy to see another project completed and see happy clients who can use their income properties for just that, income.
This project had a couple difficulties, first off the whole project was done through the winter with tenants already in the upper unit which of course creates complications with everything from noise to service shut offs. But as with all things , some ...
We started off this month on two fronts, first business as usual working our ongoing projects from Hamilton to Niagara. The second was some of the admin team hopping on a plane to Miami to attend the Accelerate Live 2020 conference. This was big conference of contractors from all over the States and a couple from Canada ( I thought we were the only ones but there was another) coming down to Sunny Isles to learn about various topics , all with the end goal of expanding and growing their businesses.
It was a dump truck full of information we were given, covering more ...
We completed another one of our basement unit renovations in Welland this past week and we wanted to showcase it. This reno is a great example of a typical job that we do here at Black Jack. This is also a good example of the type of place our clients love. This house is located on Camrose Ave. in Welland ON , just off of a main road that connects to town.
This house had an already empty and open basement which is, of course, a great start. However, it did suffer something that many of the houses we work on do: messy electrical. Now this may scare some in the ...

This project is on MacDonald Ave in the vicinity of McMaster University. This is an area know for older homes, which means it has been an area ripe for renovations and upgrades for a long time. As a matter of fact, when I worked for the company in it's a fledgling days as a labourer, the very first job I helped with was in this area.
Turns out you don't have to approach the speed of light ...

Hey everybody, welcome to our new site. This new site has been one of our many new initiatives at Black Jack to grow the company and move forward. We stand on the precipice of a new decade which means there is no better time to start getting everything where we want it to be, to plan for the future and begin to act on it. So let’s start with taking stock of where we are.
